Are you suffering from Weight Loss Entitlement Syndrome?
Ok, so I made this term up, but I see this happening ALL OF THE TIME.
It’s when you feel entitled to lose weight without putting in the effort.
And it will definitely keep you stuck in the diet cycle, yo-yoing or gaining.
How do you know if you suffer from weight loss entitlement syndrome?
- If you believe losing weight shouldn’t be so hard.
- If you want the results without continuously putting in the daily effort.
- If when it gets hard, you start mini-quitting and then complaining that it “doesn’t work.”
- If you’re motivation to continue eating healthy comes from the scale going down.
- If you say things like, “I should be here” “I should have lost more by now” “I should be losing faster.”
- If you think you should be able to eat what you’re craving and still lose weight.
- If you don’t think you should have to give up something to lose weight (ie. Beer, bread, wine…whatever your “thing” is)
- If you want to “eat like a normal person” but also lose weight. (70% of Americans are overweight or obese. So that’s what normal is.)
Do you resonate with any of these?
I have to be on to myself too. It’s so easy to get stuck in this. Nobody really talks about the hardest parts of losing weight. BUT IT IS! Especially for women who have struggled with their weight their whole life. It’s a full-on identity shift!
And the question we have to ask ourselves is, why can’t we let it be hard?
Why does it have to be easy?
As long as it has to be easier, we will continue not getting results.
So are you willing for weight loss to be the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
Are you willing to stick with it, even when every part of your being wants to quit?
Do you want it bad enough?
If not, that’s the place to begin. Creating a compelling reason or a “WHY.”
When we have a strong why, it pulls us through the hard times and we NEVER give up!
