Are you a goal hopper?

Let’s find out…..

Do you have a habit of getting really excited about a goal, going all in, researching it like crazy, and consuming every bit of information that you possibly can about it?

Do you get started on your goal all enthusiastically, taking the first couple of steps, feeling great, seeing some results, and then….

Maybe you realize that achieving it is harder than you imagined…and definitely not as exciting as you made it out to be in your mind! Maybe the progress feels incredibly slow in comparison to the amount of effort your putting in.

At that point, you begin believing something’s gone wrong. This must not be the right goal, because it doesn’t feel fun and exciting anymore. Do I need to adjust the goal or set a new one, you wonder? Or maybe it wasn’t meant to be? Maybe there’s a different way that’s “easier” or “faster?” “Maybe I just don’t have what it takes,” you may think.

With all this mental clutter going on in the mind, what you end up doing is giving up altogether. It feels too overwhelming.

And once again, you change goals…and no progress has been made! The cycle continues.

If so, you’ve been goal hopping. I’ll help you understand why…

What’s happening here is that setting a goal can give you an initial high. The idea of going after it and achieving it is super exciting!

In the beginning, we don’t think how it could potentially get hard, how it could challenge us, and how there will be obstacles we’ll have to overcome in order to achieve it.

And here’s the truth: you’ll never reach your goal if you continue to believe that something’s gone wrong every time an obstacle comes about. You’ll continue to goal hop without ever achieving anything.

So how do we overcome this cycle??

SPEND MORE TIME IN THE PLANNING PROCESS!

I know it’s not sexy or exciting. But this is seriously the key to achieving your goals. Plan potential obstacles, plan how you will overcome them, plan the HARD. Then when it comes up, it won’t be such a shocker. You’ll know this is just part of the deal. I seriously cannot recommend this enough.

Achieving your goal takes focus, it takes nurturing and it takes patience.

The journey to achieving it will not be exciting at all times. There will be ups and downs. EXPECT THAT!
