I teach my clients to procrastinate.
I’m totally serious!
I teach them to procrastinate on the RIGHT things.
Because we’re usually really good at ACTING ON the things that give us instant gratification, like our cravings for convenience foods, ice cream, wine, popcorn, candy, etc.
We feel the urge…and we act on it immediately!
And then, we procrastinate on the things that give us long-term pleasure & fulfillment. We put off things like dating, starting a business, saving money, coaching, going out with friends, taking the class you’ve been thinking about, traveling, applying for a new job, etc.
We make excuses and say, “I’ll do it once I lose the weight, once I feel more confident, once I have more time or more money….”
Sound familiar?
We put it off forever. In the meantime, we continue acting on our impulses…which is the REASON we have every excuse above in the first place.
Extra weight, lack of time, money, and confidence are ALL created by acting on impulses rather than making intentional decisions.
So what I do in my coaching practice is help people FLIP this framework.
I teach them how to start procrastinating on their impulses and start taking action on the things that give them fulfillment and long-term pleasure.
This is when the weight loss journey starts getting fun!
When you learn to stop overeating as your main source of pleasure, life begins to open up in the most beautiful way. So many of my clients who have let go of their impulses and gotten more intentional about food are applying this to every area of their life. They are now going after their dreams and really LIVING!
I’ve had clients apply this work and not only lost their weight but have also….
- Paid off their debt.
- Start a new side business.
- Show up more confidently in their job and get a huge promotion.
- Go back to school to go after their dream career.
- Start dating and meet an amazing Partner.
They let go of short-term pleasure, and started taking action on the things they REALLY wanted!
I cannot recommend it enough!
In health & happiness,
Jamie
