I could never lose weight because I kept making the same mistake!

I learned this lesson the hard way…

TO STOP TAKING WEIGHT LOSS ADVICE FROM PEOPLE WHO DON’T UNDERSTAND PCOS!

So here’s what happened to me. And this was just one of my MANY weight loss attempts through the years.

In 2017, I was was REALLY struggling. I was at my highest weight, well over 200 pounds. I was also struggling mentally, feeling insecure, lacking confidence, not wanting to be seen after gaining 30 pounds from attempt at intuitive eating.

I decided I was DONE struggling! I was losing this weight.

My husband was so tired of hearing me complain and cry about it that he wanted to do anything to help me too. 

We both decided that I was going to invest in a personal trainer and do EVERYTHING they told me to. So with high hopes and lots of ambition, I signed up for a training program! I went out and got a fancy gym membership, downloaded all of the food tracking apps, and got started!

I took “before” pictures in a bikini…and these are them (never did I think I’d be sharing them publicly…but here it is)

Here’s what I did as part of the plan….

  • I tracked all of my calories and macros in an app and hit specific percentages each day.
  • Worked out 6 days a week. 1 ½ hours every day. Three days of strength, two days of cardio, and one HIIT training day.

I did this for three months. Didn’t miss a day!

I didn’t weigh myself throughout but was sure I must have been losing weight with all of this effort. I couldn’t wait to see my results!

Three months in, it was time to take progress photos and weigh in. I took them and here they were….

I started with photos. My husband too them. I looked at them side by side with my before’s…

My heart sank!

 I instantly started tearing up. Within minutes I was bawling my eyes out. After three months of making this my part-time job, I could barely see a difference in the photos. And I hadn’t lost a single pound!!

I wanted to scream!

I think I went into a full-on depression after that. 

I quit the program. Probably laid in bed for like two days straight, and decided something had to change. I prayed for a miracle.

After crying it out for days and finally getting myself out of bed, I realized that if I wanted to do this, I had to become my own advocate. 

Having PCOS is a whole other ball game, and I was trying to play with people in the wrong sport. That was the problem.

I kept taking advice from people who didn’t understand PCOS. I was trying general weight loss approaches, and none of them worked for me. That’s why I continued feeling like there was something wrong with me. Even the Naturopath I was seeing, and handfuls of supplements I was taking each day were not making a difference.

I decided to let go of all of it, and get to work figuring things out for myself. 

And I made a promise to the universe that if I could figure this out, I would help others who are struggling with the same thing!

I decided I was going to do it, even if it took me the rest of my life!

So I began to study hormones and insulin resistance from fabulous doctors like Dr. Jason Fung. 

I miraculously found The Life Coach School Podcast, where I began learning about thought work and the power of our mindset.

I started combining what I was learning about insulin resistance with mindset work.

EVERYTHING CHANGED FOR ME!

I started every single day, doing models, shifting my thoughts one at a time. It became my morning routine. 

And I started tweaking my diet and figuring out what works for my body.

Slowly but surely, the weight began to release.

And I never stepped a foot in the gym!

Then it began coming off more consistently. I finally found the protocol that worked for my body! And I continued working on my relationship with food, my commitment, and my self-confidence through mindset work each day.

That year, I lost 50 pounds… and it was in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WAY than anything I had done in the past. That’s why it actually worked!

So here’s the moral of the story…..

If you have PCOS and you’ve tried all of the “traditional weight loss methods” without ever seeing results, maybe it’s time to work with someone who UNDERSTANDS PCOS FIRST-HAND!

I have BEEN THROUGH IT! And that is why I do what I do today. I fulfilled that promise I made to the universe. 

I went back to school and became a Certified Holistic Health Coach. Then went to the best coaching school on the planet (in my opinion), The Life Coach School, where I became certified as a Life and Weight Loss Coach.

And it has been my mission to help women with PCOS end the war with their bodies ever since. To help them gain confidence and feel free in their skin!

It’s the most rewarding work in the world!

Oh and let’s not forget an after photo. This is me just a year and a half after those “training” progress photos — fifty pounds lighter, without stepping a foot in the gym. I walked, I stuck to my protocol, did my mindset work, and got my coaching! Here it is…
