Most people think that if they don’t hate their bodies, they’ll never change.
They’re afraid that if they accepted themselves where they’re currently at—their weight, their curves, etc., then they won’t be motivated to make changes.
So many of us hate on ourselves and beat ourselves up when looking in the mirror or at pictures because of this. We believe it will motivate us into action.
But here’s the thing…it NEVER does.
It actually does the opposite.
I could even bet that the women who hate on their bodies most are the ones who buffer with food the most, which means they gain weight most.
It’s a negative cycle that DOES NOT WORK.
But if you’ve been doing it for years, I understand that it may feel hard to let go of.
You may ask, how do I accept my body when I really don’t like it?
Here’s the good news. You don’t have to go from “I hate my stomach” to “I love my stomach.” How about starting with catching the negative self-talk when it happens.
When you catch yourself in the mirror saying mean things to yourself, you INTERRUPT it.
My interrupt word was “NOPE!”
Anytime that inner mean voice would come in and complain about my back fat, I’d stop it with “NOPE” and remind myself that that kind of behavior doesn’t fly anymore.
I’d also remind myself that I look a lot better than I “think” I do.
A lot of us who’ve struggled with our weight for a long time tend to have a skewed image of what we look like.
We believe that we shouldn’t have one bit of cellulite. We shouldn’t have any rolls anywhere. We think we’re not there yet until we have 6-pack abs. And ladies, it’s time to let go of that.
You can be GORGEOUS, HEALTHY, VIBRANT, AND SYMPTOM-FREE with all of the above.
You just need to redefine beauty.
I did this by unfollowing all tiny supermodels on social media. I started following beautiful, healthy women with similar body types to me.
Let’s face it. Most women with insulin resistance and PCOS won’t ever naturally be a size 00. We tend to be a little curvier, a little stronger, more athletic.
Let’s embrace it.
We are gorgeous.
And the more you know how beautiful you are right now, the more you will want to take amazing care of yourself from a place of love, not hate.
That’s what this journey is all about!
So here’s to health. Here’s to curves. Here’s to fat rolls and cellulite.
Here’s to embracing it ALL!
In health & happiness,
Jamie
