How to add in self-care during the holidays

Christmas is less than one week away, and I’m sure your calendar is full of holiday to-do’s, like last minute shopping, preparing food to take the parties, running around with the kids, getting everything arranged for travel, etc….

But let me ask you, are YOU on your agenda?

What I mean is, are you carving out some time for a little self-care each day? Are you making YOU a priority, along with everyone else?

I know it’s one of the busiest times of the year, but that’s not a good reason to put yourself on the backburner.

Now let’s be real. I know we’re all busy in a fun, festive kind of way, and it’s actually a season of letting go. Letting go of routine, letting go of work, school, to-do lists, etc.

But I wouldn’t recommend letting go of your needs…your nourishment aka self-care. And you can do it in a way that works for you and your holiday schedule.

Consider what you CAN do during this season, after all your experience of the holidays will be so much better if you’re grounded and if your cup is full.

I want to  give you 20 easy self-care ideas that take under 10 minutes to do…

  1. Stretch first thing in the morning. Do some light yoga to expand your body.
  2. Write down your food plan for the day and stick to it!
  3. Meditate
  4. Jump rope for 10 minutes (so easy to bring in a suitcase too!)
  5. Do a thought download in your journal.
  6. Set an intention for how you want to feel that day.
  7. Make your bed and tidy up your space.
  8. Take 10 deep breaths into your body.
  9. Write down 10 things your proud of yourself for this year.
  10. Turn off your phone and pick up a book.
  11. Make yourself a delicious, healthy salad for lunch.
  12. Delete social media apps from your phone for the week.
  13. Light some candles around the house and put on festive music.
  14. Spend an extra ten minutes on your hair and makeup.
  15. Do 10 minutes of self-coaching each morning.
  16. Call an old friend on your drive.
  17. Snuggle with your pet.
  18. Get in bed 10 minutes early.
  19. Take a short walk after dinner instead of lounging.
  20. Ask for help. Don’t just do it all on your own.

Do you think you could carve out just 10 minutes each day for a little self-care? What would you do?

Think of the impact that would have through the holidays…and beyond!. Just 10 minutes a day for the rest of the year (12 more days * 10 minutes) = 2 hours of self-care!

The compound effect of this will massively impact your experience this holiday season!
