Stop this now!!

Listen In!

The one thing you MUST let go of in order to lose weight with PCOS is…

Stop feeling sorry for yourself!

“It’s harder for me to lose weight because of PCOS”

I hear this sentence all of the time from my clients.

I say, “So what?”

School was a lot harder for me than some other students, but I didn’t drop out.

Raising a kid is harder for a single parent, but they don’t stop parenting.

Getting around in this world is a lot harder for someone who can’t see, but they don’t stay in.

What I’m trying to say here is that we all have our stuff. Some things are going to be harder for us than others, and some things will be easier.

But focusing on the hard will get you nowhere.

It’s called being in self-pity. And being in self-pity keeps you stuck. It’s a way of playing the victim role. As long as you’re a victim, you’re not taking responsibility and there’s no way out.

I’m not trying to be harsh here. Believe me, I’ve been there! I still go there too…it’s natural and it’s human.

But I try and recognize when I’m in this place and shift out of it as quickly as possible in order for progress to occur.

Are you feeling sorry for yourself? Are you ready to get out of that loop and start moving forward?

If so, here’s a POWERFUL exercise for ya. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend you do it. I promise it’ll make a huge difference for you.

  1. Think about what it is that you’ve been feeling sorry for yourself for.
  2. Write down everything you’ve learned from it.
  3. Write down how it’s helped shape you as a person.

I’ll share one I did back when I was in the middle of my struggle as an example.

1.) Think about what it is that you’ve been feeling sorry for yourself for.

I am 206 pounds even though I workout every day and eat healthy

2.) Write down everything you’ve learned from this struggle.

-I’m learning how to love my body even though it’s not my ideal shape/size

-I’ve learned how to exercise really well because I’ve worked with trainers, taken classes, and done a lot of different things.

-I’ve learned a lot about nutrition because I’ve been trying to lose weight for so many years.

-I’ve learned how to be a healthier person overall.

-I’ve learned what doesn’t work for me (alcohol, sugar, high-carbs, lack of sleep)

-I’ve learned more about the body because I’ve researched what’s happening with mine.

-I’ve learned and am still learning patience.

-I’m learning not to attach my self-worth to my body image.

3.) Write down how it’s helped shape you as a person.

Having PCOS and weight struggles has given me a ton of…. strength, resilience, perseverance, compassion, connection to others going through it, wisdom…

My hope is that as you do this exercise, you’ll begin to see that your struggle is actually a gift. Now, I’m not saying it’s not hard and not challenging, but I’m certain you’ve learned more from this experience than you have from things that come easy. And it’s probably built up a lot of character in you, making you a stronger person than you were before the struggle!

Am I right about that?

I’d love to hear how this exercise was for you. If you’re struggling with it and would like some guidance, I’m here for you. Send me an email and I’ll help guide you through it.

The last thing I want you to do is give up on yourself because PCOS is “hard.”

Heck no, not around here!!!

In health & happiness,

Jamie
